Dust Collector FAQs: How does an electrostatic filter work?

The principle is similar to rubbing a balloon against your sweater. This creates an electric field that can make your hair stand on end. The electrostatic filter also creates a magnetic field with voltage, which it uses to charge the dust particles. The charged particles then stick to the wall of the chimney and clump together, turning fine dust into coarse dust. This dust is no longer released into the environment, but remains in the flue gas system.
